Salt City Mediation is a boutique online practice serving Utah. One mediator, flat posted pricing, and a way of working that starts with both people feeling understood.
Meet David
Salt City Mediation is led by its founder, David. He builds software and is the founder of EmpathEase, an app for practicing empathy and Nonviolent Communication, and he's completing Utah's court mediation training.
The approach here is the same one behind EmpathEase: help each person feel understood first, then find the agreement. As your mediator, David stays neutral. He doesn't take sides, and he doesn't give legal advice. His only job is to help you both reach something you can live with.
That neutrality is the whole job. It means the room belongs to both of you equally, that neither person has to out-argue the other, and that what you agree to is yours rather than something handed down.
How this practice works

Sessions happen by video, so nobody drives across the valley to sit in a waiting room.
Flat, posted pricing
$200 an hour plus a $35 admin fee, two hour minimum, shared between you. The consult before it is free.
Built on NVC
Nonviolent Communication shapes how the room runs: what happened, how it landed, what each person needs, what to ask for.
Confidential
What is said in the session stays in the session, and we delete the recording once your agreement is written.
What a mediator is, and is not
A mediator does
- Stay neutral toward both people
- Make sure each person is actually heard
- Keep the conversation on what matters to each of you
- Write up what you agree to, so it is clear
A mediator does not
- Take sides or represent either person
- Give legal advice
- Decide the outcome or rule on anything
- Push either of you into an agreement
